The R62 Route, through the Breede River Valley, to the Klein Karoo is the longest wine route in the world, encompassing towns such as Ceres, historic Tulbagh (an entire street in the town is a national monument), Montagu, Robertson and Barrydale.
This region of fertile valleys, rugged mountains and expansive vistas is famous for the internationally recognized wines it produces. Also renowned for its fruit orchards and dairy farms which produce exceptional cheeses, this area has a host of less well known features.
The locals have long known about the hot springs, mountain trails, game reserves and other attractions
There are a number of first class wine estates that offer wine tasting and cellar tours.
Also hidden along the route are numerous guest houses B&Bs and intimate hotels.
