Cape Town and the Gay Community
A hotspot for gay culture, Cape Town boasts a liberal attitude and is very accepting of the Gay community which is large and growing. Cape Town offers a unique blend of gay entertainment and nightlife, mostly centred around the gay village in Green Point.
In this area you will find a variety
of gay and gay-friendly restaurants, coffee shops, clubs, bars and
accommodation. Café Manhattan is probably one of the oldest gay venues, it is a
relaxed bar and restaurant, also try The Bronx a popular action bar. For the
more theatrically inclined, On Broadway offers regular performances by popular
entertainers.
Regular events and dance parties such as the Mother City Queer Project attracts
up to 10000 people from around the world every December who descend upon Cape
Town dressed to the prevailing theme and ready to party. A must for all
open-minded travellers.
