Knysna
Knysna is one of the Garden Routes most popular holiday destinations with a wide variety of activities on offer.
Entertainment and Activities
The Knysna lagoon with the impressive Knysna Heads, where the lagoon meets the Indian Ocean with dramatic tidal races, is home to one of the worlds few oyster hatcheries. There are many water sports to be enjoyed on the lagoon, from canoeing to sunset cruises.
For the nature lover Knysna is a paradise, the western head consists of the privately owned featherbed nature reserve. On the inland side lie the indigenous temperate rainforests with their impressive giant outeniqua yellowwood trees. Rising out of the forests are the Outeniqua mountains with their crowns of Cape Fynbos vegetation. The forests and mountains are traversed by an extensive route of hiking trails ranging from half hour strolls through to nine day hiking trails.
Some of the interesting things to do and see in the Knysna area include:
- Abseiling
- Bungi Jumping
- Diving
- Elephant Park
- Fishing
- Kayaking
- Whale Watching
